Bob Olivier

Bob is the Sole Director and Principal Consultant at Hro2 Research. 

Bob started Hro2 Research in 2011, teaming up with a leading global provider of employment data with the aim of developing cutting edge employment data and analytics for the Australian economy. 


Over the next two years Bob developed a new generation of job indices based on job advertisement activity of Australian employers, recruiters and niche job boards. This was the first series to utilise complex artificial intelligence for the coding and analysis of jobs data. 


He has, more recently, worked with a leading provider of statistical modelling and time series analysis to produce Australia’s first series of commercially produced predictive job indices.


Bob has primary responsibility for the design, development and generation of job index reports and the provision of consulting services for our clients. Bob has a small team, comprising database management, IT support, statistics modelling and social media content and distribution supporting the Hro2 Research business.



In 2001 Bob published the Olivier Job Index, the first unique measure of internet job advertising data. The Index became a benchmark for employment trends in Australia followed closely around the nation. Bob was a regular presenter on TV and radio.


His early career was in economics and finance. Bob jointly established Olivier Group in 1991. It was recognised as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Company in Australia for five years in succession. When Olivier Group was acquired by Advantage Professional in 2008 Bob was appointed Director, Global Market Intelligence, tasked with developing job indices across its international businesses.


Bob served on the RBA’s Business Liaison Group for six years. Bob also co-authored two books on best practice in web-based recruitment. In 2011 he was a runner up in the inaugural RCSA Outstanding Contribution Award. He served on the Board of the RCSA from 2012 to 2017.
